14k Yellow Gold 1.3mm Snake Chain Necklace, 18" Review

I purchased this necklace for my wife to use with a moderate size pendant. In hind site, I wish I would have went to a local store for purchase so I could have examined it first.

Pros: Overall this is an attractive necklace. It has a nice look to it and appears to be well constructed.

Cons: First it is not 18" long. I know this is picky, but it is really 17 3/4 inches long in total. Not a big deal but I did pay for an 18 inch necklace. Second, the necklace is not described correctly. When viewing prior to purchase it says it is a 1.8mm chain. After you add it into your cart this switches to a 1.3mm chain. I am very disappointed in Amazon over this. Accuracy in descriptions is a big deal. I am thinking about taking this to a jewelry store and seeing if it really has the proper amount of gold.

I have not decided whether or not to return it. I am normally very pleased with Amazon, but I think they let me down on this one. I will update this review if I find out the gold content is not sufficient.

Update 11/18/2013: Just to give a final update on this, I did go ahead and return the necklace and I purchased a replacement from a local store at a comparable weight and price. It was a wheat weave that was shown suspending a full size brick! I also re-checked the item description here and it still has the incorrect 1.8mm width information at the time of this update. I have returned very few items to Amazon and I must commend them for the ease of this return. They did make it about as painless as possible, so Amazon thank you for that.
