18k Yellow-Gold Plated Sterling Silver, Citrine, and Peridot Tennis Bracelet, 7.25" Review
This bracelet presents very well in terms of workmanship and sparkle. The gold overlay appears to be thick, and the coverage is uniform and complete. There are markings on the clasp, as follows: PAJ 925 CHINA. 925 denotes sterling silver, and PAJ is the signature of Prime Art and Jewel. Prime Art & Jewel is an international jewelry wholesaler of fine and bridge jewelry. As I do with all jewelry, I examined the stones in this bracelet with a 30X loup; usually selling for less than $10, this tool has proved essential to me. Peridot is my birthstone, and I have worn it in earrings, rings and bracelets for years. The color is a perfect representation of the stone and is as shown on Amazon's product page, and all stones match in color. In looking at the stones, however, they are a disappointment because all six are noticeably flawed, either with black flecks, long scratches by the cutter, or, worse, internal, and severe, fractures. The good news is that because of the cushion cut, these imperfections are fairly disguised, but because of this damage, I still remove one star from the rating. While Peridot does have a decent hardness of 6.5 to 7 on the Moh's hardness scale, it is usually considered not the best stone for rings or certain types of ornamental jewelry. In my 40 years' experience of wearing peridots on my hands, the stones will noticeably wear, i.e., scratch or rub away, with time. This means that I would recommend care in wearing this bracelet, as for only special occasions.
The five citrines, ironically, are clean, clear, color matched, and without imperfections. However, the color is lighter than the Amazon product page, more closely resembling lemon yellow, which represents the natural stone. Here again, the hardness of citrine is only 7, so these stones are fairly fragile. Regarding the diamond, after much hunting, there is just one, set within the middle one of the 11 starburst links. This review will be updated regarding how the bracelet wears over time.
