Inspecting/critiquing the quality and detail of this purchase seems like an insignificant act when you see the reaction of the person receiving it, if it is given as a gift. That is the case with my purchase. Although the only thing I needed to see to be satisfied with this necklace was the tears in her eyes, I still think it is important other people know if they can trust this to be a worry free purchase...during what is most likely a hard time for the recipient.

My goals when chosing this important gift were: elegance, low profile, sturdy, easy to mix with present jewelry, and, given her on-going pain, I didn't want it to draw attention from people who would undoubtedly inquire about a situation that she prefers to not discuss. Translation - I didn't want it to look like what it is so she wouldn't have to talk about it to every curious passerby.

I can say that this necklace met those goals. It has all of the memorial characteristics I wanted and, with a passing glance, looks like an elegant pendant.

The necklace comes with an extremely small funnel for transferring the ashes to the pendant. This proved to be a frustrating task, but considering the size of the opening I see no improvements that could have been made. It is not something tht needs to be done on a regular basis, so if there is frustration it is a one-time experience.

The chain that came with it is suitable for temporary use, but I recommend purchasing a more robust chain soon after receiving it. The weight of the pendant is not too heavy, but the chain is too light to carry it permanently.

The top piece "lid" and the bottom piece don't seem to match up perfectly, it is by no means noticeable, and shouldn't deter purchase. But I guess I just expected a perfect, seamless fit. Someone who doesn't know about machining metal like I do will probably not notice.

The heart is hollow and goes all of the way through the pendant. It is nice looking and allowed the manufacturer to take some of the weight off. But, it will require periodic cleaning as it catches bits of dust and dirt.

Overall, this is a good, quality item that I would recommend to be given as a gift, or for personal remembrance.
