This is a very delicate necklace. I know it's 14K gold, but I'm always careful not to wear it to bed or in water (shower, swimming). My main concern was with regard to the clasp. It is a lobster claw clasp, and seems strong enough, but I have no doubt than a good tug on the chain would break it. On the other hand, I love it for it's delicate look and wear it every day with just about any out fit. The medal of Mary looks more like Our Lady of Guadalupe than Mary - for those that recognize the difference. One small drawback - the chain/clasp get caught in my hair on occasion. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and feel that it is worth price I paid. I know there were others that were cheaper (and one that was MUCH more expensive), but I think for the 14K gold, I have a worthwhile piece.
